Privacy Policy

1. Who We Are

Pehchaan is a work identity and trust network for India's informal workforce. We help workers build a verified work identity and help employers find trusted workers nearby. Our app is operated by Siraj Shaik (contact: sirajsabir7@gmail.com).

2. What Information We Collect

• Phone number — used for OTP-based sign-in (via Firebase Authentication). We never share your number publicly without consent.
• Name, area, city, skills, bio, years of experience — your work profile, visible to employers searching for workers.
• Profile photo — optional, stored securely on Supabase Storage.
• Portfolio photos — photos of your work projects, visible on your public profile.
• Employer endorsements — names and phone numbers of employers who verify you, plus their notes.
• Push notification token — stored to send you job alerts and notifications. Only used for in-app notifications.
• Job posts — if you post a job as an employer, the job details (skill needed, area, city, budget, optional contact phone) are visible to workers with matching skills.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To show your verified work profile to employers searching for workers.
• To let employers endorse and verify workers they have worked with.
• To match workers with relevant job posts in their area.
• To send push notifications about job applications, hiring, and endorsements.
• We do not sell your data to any third party.
• We do not use your data for advertising.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely on Supabase (hosted on AWS, eu-central-1 region). Authentication is handled by Firebase (Google). We use Row Level Security (RLS) on all database tables — you can only access and modify your own data. Photos are stored in a secured Supabase Storage bucket.

6. Permissions We Request

• Photos / Media — to let workers upload profile and portfolio photos from their gallery. We do not access any other files.
• Notifications — to send you job alerts and updates. You can disable this in your phone settings at any time.
• Phone calls / WhatsApp — only opened as an external action when you tap a contact button. We do not make calls on your behalf.

7. Your Rights

• You can edit or delete your profile at any time from within the app.
• You can delete portfolio items and endorsement requests from the app.
• To request full account deletion (all data), email us at sirajsabir7@gmail.com with subject "Delete my Pehchaan account". We will process the request within 7 days.

8. Children's Privacy

Pehchaan is intended for users aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact us immediately.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
